The Dining Guide: Vegan
A plant-based lifestyle grows and grows in prominence with each passing year. Between 2014 and 2019, the number of people becoming vegan in the UK quadrupled, making the diet more than just a challenge undertook to beat the post-Christmas bulge.
Since then, vegan options have gone from strength to strength. They’ve moved from something you’d have to maintain through home cooking straight into restaurants, arguably overtaking vegetarianism in prominence and certainly growing a hell of a lot quicker.
Our restaurants are joining and setting trends when it comes to vegan options. Whether you’re heading for a Haven holiday down in Cornwall or up in the far reaches of Northumberland, a vegan diet is easy to maintain with us through the array of options served up by the magnificent teams at our parks. Growing our vegan offering is just one of the ways we’re making the Haven experience, and our operations, more sustainable for the beautiful environments around our parks, and the world as a whole.
Mash and Barrel

The place to be on park for all your culinary needs, Mash and Barrel is a staple at our parks and is the restaurant that makes the most appearances up and down the country. As a vegan, you’re more than sorted out with the tasty menu at hand, cooked with care by attentive chefs and served with passion by the brilliant waiting staff.
The food you taste will be great, but the price won’t hit you too hard, giving you even more room to explore the beautiful British coastline in a way that suits you and your loved ones. Let’s take you through what’s on offer for vegans in the morning, afternoon and evening.
Breakfast

Who really needs meat and dairy to get off to a great start? With staples of dawn like an awesomely seasoned avocado on toast and the classic beans on toast, Mash and Barrel will energise you for a great day of exploring your incredible surroundings. You can always add healthy tomatoes and mushrooms to make it a breakfast to remember even more fondly. For something lighter, try the fruit salad, brought to life by a range of fresh produce the oozes juiciness.
In partnership with Smiths of London, there’s a whole host of ethically sourced, Fairtrade hot drinks on offer, as well as a wide range of fruit juices to whet your whistle too. Breakfast is served until 11:30am, making it ideal for an early start or after a lie-in.
Lunch

Whether you’ve had an action-packed start to the day or you’re just easing yourself in, a spot of lunch never goes amiss at Mash and Barrel. The main menu can be enjoyed throughout the day, so whether you’re in the mood for something light during the height of the day or fancy indulging, there’s something vegan for you to enjoy.
There is a range of lunchtime specials that are served from 11:30am until 4pm every day, with the delicious three bean chilli burrito satisfying more than a few vegan tastebuds. Fancy a burger? The Moving Mountains plant-based burger comes with all the trimmings and vegan cheese. Just ask to add and or remove as many toppings as you please!
Dinner

Dinner time is when Mash and Barrel reaches its pinnacle, with an awesome three-course vegan culinary experience on hand. The spicy sweetcorn fritters are a fantastic start to your evening, served with Cajun and lemon mayo and mixed leaves.
For your main, there’s a range of options. Our vegan burgers are to die for, with the aforementioned Moving Mountains burger joined by a Quorn patty levelled up by lime mayo slaw and barbecue chipotle sauce. There are other fantastic options too, with a Thai green curry with rice and naan bread as well as Quorn katsu curry with an authentic sauce.
Finish the meal in style with the magnificent range of vegan iced dessert flavours, more than a match for regular ice cream with enticing options like vanilla and salted caramel.
Vegan options wherever you stay
Our parks aren’t just home to Mash and Barrel. Each has its own food offering, putting its own stamp of authority on dishes brought to life by produce sourced from and inspired by their local communities.
Classic choices are being joined by an ever-increasing range of vegan delights, designed not only with tastebuds in mind. So, whether you’re heading to the South West’s Surf Bay at Perran Sands, the Lakehouse restaurant up in Yorkshire or somewhere else on your Haven holiday, you won’t be short of vegan options.
