This newly constructed cycle trail offers an almost entirely traffic-free, wonderfully level route which forms part of the South Coast NCN No.2. The trail takes you right around the Exe Estuary from Dawlish to Exmouth, passing through the pretty villages of Starcross, Topsham and Lympstone to name a few. The estuary is of international importance for wintering waders and wildfowl, supporting 1000’s of birds. RSPB reserves near Topsham and Dawlish Warren National Nature Reserve offer some of the best opportunities to view wildlife along the estuary. This spacious beach boasts fine gardens and parks, some dating from the town's Victorian heyday. A sea wall and Queens Drive back Exmouth's long sandy beach. There is a wide promenade lined with shops restaurants and pubs. The beach is cleaned both mechanically and manually on a daily basis in the summer and monthly in the winter. Exmouth beach is perfect for those who enjoy lots of activities like Swimming; fishing; jet skiing; surfing; windsurfing; sailing and boat trips. Surf boards and canoes are available to hire. Zoning in place for jet skis. There is also a SLSGB Surf Life Saving Club at this beach. Exmouth is a gateway for walking the Dorset and East Devon World Heritage Coast site, along the South West Coast Path to Sandy Bay/Budleigh. Bird watchers can walk to the estuary bird hide. Dogs are only allowed in restricted areas between May 1st - September 30th. Pay parking available for over 1.000 vehicles. MCS recommended for excellent water quality. European designated bathing water. RNLI life guarded between May 24th - September 7th.
