It’s the most frightful time of the year! From Seton Sands in Scotland all the way down to Combe Haven on the south coast, all our parks give you and your little ones a great space to have some Halloween fun by the sea.

The occasion was started by the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (that’s sow-in) as way of commemorating what was then the end of summer and start of winter. The festival as we know it today took off in North America in the 20th-century, with one quarter (yes, one quarter!) of the country’s candy sold for this night. Whether your family dresses up, decorates or carves a pumpkin, we thought we’d put together a list of our favourite Halloween activities for kids. Allow us to show you what Halloween is like by the sea.

Halloween Slime

Halloween Slime

Who doesn’t like getting their hands dirty? Your little ones can create their very own monster or pumpkin slime in this fun, interactive session led by one of our friendly instructors, before taking a pot of ghastly goo away with them. This fun-filled session is an exclusive Halloween activity, bookable up to two hours before it starts on our handy My Haven app, or in person on park. There’s a limit on numbers, so please book early to avoid disappointment!

Halloween Sand Art

Halloween Sand Art

Our Halloween Sand Art gives younger visitors another opportunity to get creative over the Halloween period, and it's one of our favourite Halloween activities for kids! Swap the sand on the beach for some indoor art. In this fun activity, kids get to sprinkle colourful variations to create their very own masterpiece. And the best bit is they can take their work home to treasure and remember the time they had a Halloween stay with us.

Carve a pumpkin

Carve a pumpkin

Does anything represent Halloween as a kid more? We all have fond memories of having these interesting vegetables in our houses at this time of the year and this time only. Pumpkins probably are the image most of us associate with Halloween, complete with a scary face, of course. There are thousands of guides online that show you how to carve the perfect pumpkin – just remember to switch off the caravan lights and bring it to life.

Watch a film

Watch a film

Between the sweets, the costumes and the decorating, little guys and ghouls might wish to spend some time relaxing. Why not stick on a Halloween film? Our caravans all have DVD players – all you need to do is choose your title. A feature length bit of TV is the perfect excuse to cuddle up and eat some treats. And with Freeview, you can access up to 70 channels at the touch of a button. The possibilities are many and the opportunities are large!

Go for a spooky walk

Spooky walk

Our parks are in rural areas surrounded by natural beauty inland and a beautiful horizon out at sea, which means they’re great for a thrill-seeking walk in the evening. Hear the trees rustle, feel the wind pick up and see the moon in the sky. Or, if that sounds a little unnerving, follow our adventure trails around the park. They’re ideal for stretching the legs between your fun-filled activities, and the ideal path for a spot of trick or treating...
