Craig Tara Holiday Park

Beautiful area with amazing views over the bay. Okay beach accessible from camp site. The site itself is really attractive, centering on a really good children's play area with a particularly good 'spidery' climbing frame that felt delightfully old fashioned. TWO football courts allow a choice for younger players plus slides and swings etc. Strangely, several services like crazy golf, peddal cars, zip wire and bungee jump were mostly unavailable despite arriving on a bank holiday. Likewise, service at the otherwise good Sports Bar ended with last orders called at 9:30 and tv's muted almost instantly upon the conclusion of a big match at 10pm! The site had a pleasant layout with some areas enjoying superb views. We disliked our chalet accommodation for the constantly slamming fire doors that seemed unnecessary. Also one of the keys didn't work. Parking was insufficient yet numerous signs prohibited parking on grass - which was unsurprisingly ignored. Other areas were exactly what you'd expect from a large Haven site with what looked like tacky entertainment for kids, tacky slot machines and overpriced gift items. Nice bar area and a Burger King offered the best refreshments. The roads meander pleasantly around the site but signposting could be better and there were no clearly marked footpaths to get to the beach or directly around the 'villages'. Hourly bus service into Ayr was quite pricey. The beach area was described as "sandy and stoney" which is fair. It wasn't bad and has excellent views and shallow areas that extend a long way at low tide. There are occasional bricks etc. and LOTS of seaweed but not too much litter.

Came for 7 nights , checked in and mattress had blood stains on and another mattress broken , fridge freezer also had broken shelves. 1 day it took for the mattress day 3 for the fridge and other mattress, Warren the facilities staff was amazing and got these sorted for us straight away day 4 our holiday started woken up on a bran new mattress Fantastic (that good i want to take it home as its better than mine at home haha) and what a holiday we had since. Fantastic weather, lots of memories and over all amazing holiday when the problems was solved. Had Sunday lunch in the restaurant beautiful food and plenty of it would highly recommend. Wouldn't return as its 5 hours away from us but its been a lovely week over all and again thankyou for much Warren we really do appreciate your help and kindness it really didn't go unnoticed

On arrival everything was speedy and caravan was immaculate. We have done 5 caravan holidays now and this van was the best. The park is a wee bit run down though. I appreciate its not peak season and staff are limited. A lot of thing were not on. The pool was OK, very shallow for the wee ones though. Haggerston castle is still the best one we have come across . I'd definitely go back to Craig tara though. Ayr is a lovely place, this was our first visit.

This is a fantastic location. It's a different story to Seaton Sands Haven site on the east coast. There are pros and cons to this park. It's within driving distance of Glasgow (1 hour) and Ayer is about 15-20 minutes. Glasgow isn't a touch on Edinburgh (which is a 2 hour drive) but there are plenty of natural and historical sights within driving distance. The beach really needs cleaning up. It's a receading coast line and there's a lot of debris falling away with it. It has the largest amusement entertainment of any haven park site we've been too. There's one entertainment lounge for grown ups and another for what I would call family entertainment. The plus side of this iz anyone of any age go visit both lounge. On the hole, Rage Tara is a fantastic site. My kids loved the entertainment and the 5 different choices of food vendors. We will be back.

We stayed in Haven stay ( 13 Denure village)in craig tara. We were excited for the caravan stay for the first time. We reached our caravan by 6 pm. But unfortunately there was no light from the car parking to the entrance of the caravan stay, the path was pitch dark and was slippery, we almost fell due to that. And after we went inside, though the rooms were small, there was no place to put all the suitcases in one place, we were ok with it. But when we went to use the washroom, we found dirty stains on the toilet seat and toilet cover. Inside of the bedroom cabinet was the old slime left by someone else. Inside of the bathroom cabinet was kids play things. The shower was not good, when we shower, we need to hold it in hand as it was completely bent and falling down. In the bedroom there were so many unwanted covers and the extra duet was clumsy. We expected it to be neat and clean even though it was small. But we're disappointed. Don't book 3 bedroom caravans as they are of same size as 2 bedroom. But they shrunk to fit extra room which is not worth the money. The toilet in 3 bedroom is very small. You can't sit in the toilet where the door. Wall, washbasin will hit ur body. That's the small space you have in ur toilet. Very disappointed 😞
