Seaviews at Quay West

Top 5 things to do near Quay West and on park

In a beachside location in Ceredigion, South Wales, Quay West is a lovely spot for a coastal break. And with a showbar refresh and arcade update, there’s lots to look forward to on park!

With great activities on site, and plenty to explore in the local area, General Manager Cherry Barnett gave us her tips on the best things to do here.

1. Climb through the trees on an Aerial Adventure

1. Climb through the trees on an Aerial Adventure

We have an Aerial Adventure in the woods here which is next to the pathway to the beach, and it goes all through the trees- so the views are really beautiful. It’s a different experience to going on high ropes elsewhere, you really feel like you're in the middle of nature. It's all around you!

The activities team here are really good at building confidence in the children, we've had so many positive responses from families about it.

3. Explore the beach and look out for dolphins

3. Explore the beach and look out for dolphins

The thing that stands our park out is our position, we're right on the beach with direct access. But also because of the angle of where we are, nearly every caravan has a sea view, which is such a bonus. There are very few that don't so I think that is phenomenal.

So many of our owners just love being on the beach, and a lot of them have dogs and they can walk them on the beach. And on a clear day you can actually see North Wales from here, so right across the bay over the mountains near to Hafan y Mor in Pwllheli. It's absolutely stunning, it’s really beautiful.

We're famous for our dolphins in New Quay. I happened to be in New Quay one day going to the Post Office and I saw these people running to the front when and I looked out there were about 20 dolphins. It was unbelievable. Mesmerising. They come quite regularly, so you may well spot some too.

4. Enjoy New Quay’s annual events

4. Enjoy New Quay’s annual events

New Quay town has a music festival every summer right on the harbour which is really great. They also have a hugely, hugely popular soap box derby - which honestly thousands of thousands of people go to. I'm hoping we're going to see if we can enter this year. I need to see if I've got someone crazy enough in my team!

5. Visit the local attractions

5. Visit the local attractions

There are lots of lovely places to visit nearby. We're not far from Cardigan Castle, and I recently discovered New Quay Honey Farm which has a little tea shop and all sorts of honey products, but you can also go upstairs and see all the bees so that's quite a fun thing to do.

We're also only 45 minutes from Aberystwyth which is a beautiful historical place. So if you wanted a day out there's loads of museums and attractions there.

Why do you love Quay West?

The location - I mean it is just beautiful. The view from my office is just stunning. Being able to look out and see the harbour, the beach, the dolphins, it's just stunning. The team here love this place, I mean they really really love it, they are Quay West through and through and I love that about them, they are just so passionate. And because we are a small park and a lot our owners have been here for a long time, it's a lot more personal.
