Top 5 things to do near Kent Coast and on park
Kent Coast General Manager John Coltman talks us through the best things to do on- and off-site while you’re on holiday at the Haven park near Rochester, Kent. He’s worked in this role for several years and describes it as "the best job I’ve ever had,” all because he gets to help create memories for the holidaymakers choosing to stay here.
There’s been a lot of exciting change happening on the park recently, with impressive investments and more to come. Here’s why you should visit, and return again, to Kent Coast.
1. Enjoy the peace of the Estuary
Kent Coast is set alongside the Thames Estuary. From here, you can watch the ships sail by to and fro. We are also blessed with local wildlife such as seals. From the beach side, you can watch the seals bobbing their heads up and down.
It’s freedom by the coast here, as if you enter another world. As soon as you cross into the park, it feels different. You can embrace the serenity.
We are only 35 minutes from London via train or car. For those seeking your own adventure, there is a new walking route from here to London if you fancy giving it a go.
2. Relax in the new Marina Bar
We recently welcomed our brand new 1200-seater Marina Bar, which has an improved entertainment offering and its own kitchen serving a new menu of food.
It also has a decked terrace overlooking the Estuary, which will be great for those warmer nights and boat watchers. From the decking, you oversee the extravagant Adventure Village and outdoor stage. You can watch live entertainment under the sun or stars all year round.
3. Try out the new Adventure Village
The Adventure Village and its many activities has transformed the park into a place some people only dream about.
To all our dog owners out there, we are proud to be a dog-friendly park and we have built a special place just for our furry friends to enjoy, so be sure to pop down to The Bark Yard.
4. Visit the military fort (and play laser tag inside)
We have an 18th-century military fort on the park. That’s a real headline piece for those who come for the history and tourism. You can play laser tag inside – laser tag in an 18th-century fort! - you won’t find that anywhere else in the UK.
For our History lovers, you can book a tour with the fort. Tours are available Wednesdays and Sundays, where you’ll understand the history of the wars with France.
5. Visit the local zoo
The local zoo, The Fenn Bell Conservation Project, is less than 10 minutes away by car. It’s a petite zoo, with a low entry fee, but it gets a lot of attention in the local area. All of their animals have been either rescued or come from other zoos. They also host some seasonal events too. It’s well worth a visit while you are here.
What do you love about Kent Coast?
I love working on a holiday park. I think (as corny as it sounds) you get to help create the memories of those that come here for their short breaks. Every guest, every holiday spent here with us in Kent Coast, helps build this place into a magical place where memories last a lifetime.
