Top 5 things to do near Doniford Bay and on park

Charlotte Woodman is Head of Facilities at Doniford Bay in Somerset, and has worked at the park in a variety of roles for the past nine years – so it’s fair to say she knows the park inside out. Here’s Charlotte’s pick of what you need to see, and do, while visiting Doniford Bay:

1. Watch the sunset

1. Watch the sunset

I’d say the best thing about Doniford Bay is the sunsets - I’ve never seen a sunset like I have at Doniford. The views are really good no matter where you are on park. It’s a quiet and relaxing place, perfect for if people want to get away - it’s not all hustle and bustle.

2. Take the Jump or slide into the pool

We now have a Jump tower on park which is really good! People love it and it’s been really popular.

We’ve also got the outdoor slide, and the indoor swimming pool is attached to the outdoor pool which is quite unique as most are separate.

3. The new outdoor bar

We got a new outdoor Box Bar recently which has gone down a storm! People love that they can sit outside in the sun, watching their kids play on the play park, watching the sunsets. The minute we opened the owners absolutely loved it and so did holidaymakers.

4. Take a trip to Minehead

4. Take a trip to Minehead

Minehead is really pretty and has the best sandy beach – it’s probably one of the closest sandy beaches we’ve got in this area. And there’s the steam train as well which goes from Watchet to Minehead.

5. Visit Dunster Castle and village

Dunster Castle: a standing snapshot of medieval history

I love Dunster Castle! I hadn’t been until this year and it’s really pretty. It’s great for a family day out. The local villages are lovely to wander around too. I’d recommend Watchet, Dunster and Porlock.

There’s also an open-top bus which is great for exploring the Exmoor coast, all the way from Plymouth to Lynton.

St Audrie’s: another hideaway within walking distance of us

I think people love the area. A lot of people go into Watchet, a nearby village, and go to the local pubs. There’s a great community in the area. Everyone is friendly and they love holidaymakers and just treat them like locals.

The team are really friendly here and we really take the time to build relationships with guests and owners.
