Some of southern England’s most iconic places are in Somerset: Cheddar Gorge, the Roman Baths and Glastonbury Tor.

Somerset sees an influx of visitors for the world-famous Glastonbury Festival every year, but the music event won't take place in 2026. There are still plenty of brilliant events in the region to get involved with.

No matter the time of year you’re staying at our Burnham-on-Sea or Doniford Bay holiday parks, you’ll have plenty to do. Here are our top events in Somerset for 2026.

West Somerset Railway: Spring Steam Spectacular 

When: Saturday 28 - Sunday 29 March 2026

Where: Bishops Lydeard Station, Taunton, TA4 3RU

Nearest park: Doniford Bay (12 miles from park, 23-minute drive)

All aboard for living history on the heritage line that hugs the Quantocks and the coast. The spring gala usually brings visiting locomotives, intensive timetables and heaps of steam-powered nostalgia—brilliant for train-mad kids and camera-happy grown-ups. Start at Bishops Lydeard (handy parking, café and shop) and chuff to seaside towns like Watchet and Minehead for fish-and-chips on the prom.

Wookey Hole Easter Adventures (TBC) 

When: Easter school holidays 2026 (TBC) 

Where: Wookey Hole Caves, Wells, BA5 1BA 

Nearest park: Burnham-on-Sea (18.5 miles, 45-minute drive)

Under the Mendips, you’ll find one of Britain’s biggest show-cave systems, complete with the legendary Witch of Wookey, a Victorian paper mill and family attractions. Easter at Wookey usually means extra shows and activities alongside cave tours—perfect if you want a weather-proof day that still feels epic. Arrive early to catch the circus show and leave time for adventure golf and the mirror maze.

Royal Bath & West Show 

When: 28–30 May 2026 

Where: Bath & West Showground, Shepton Mallet, BA4 6QN

Nearest park: Burnham-on-Sea (26 miles, 50-minute drive)

Somerset’s big county show is back, serving up everything from champion livestock and dare-devil arena displays to cider championships, cheese tastings and shopping by the acre. It’s a proper great British day out — tractors, rare breeds, floral marquees and street food galore — all within an hour of both Haven parks.

Summer Fest at the Beach, Weston-super-Mare

Where: Seafront by the Grand Pier, Weston-super-Mare, BS23 1AL

Kick off summer with live music, family entertainment and tons of seaside fun on Weston’s wide sands. The festival vibe spreads along the promenade with easy access to amusements, rides and classic buckets-and-spades time. It’s a straightforward drive from Burnham-on-Sea, and there’s plenty to do if you stretch the day—stroll the pier, grab doughnuts, or take a spin on the big wheel.

Frome Festival 

When: 3–12 July 2026 

Where: Venues across Frome BA11 1AH.

Nearest park: Burnham-on-Sea (34 miles, one hour 10-minute drive)

Ten glorious days when this artsy market town explodes with creativity—think open-air gigs, comedy, workshops, hidden gardens, makers’ markets and late-night happenings. Park up and roam from the Cheese & Grain to tiny pop-up venues tucked down cobbled streets. Families will love daytime shows and hands-on sessions, and date-nighters can book a cosy gig and dinner.

Mid-Somerset Show (Free pedestrian entry) 

When: Mid-August 2026 (TBC; usually the third Sunday) 

Where: Mid-Somerset Showground, Shepton Mallet, BA4 4GF

Nearest park: Burnham-on-Sea (23 miles, 50-minute drive)

A classic one-day agricultural show that punches well above its weight—livestock and equine classes, craft and flower competitions, Somerset Cider Championships and a superb local food scene. It’s friendly, great value (free on foot; paid parking), and easy for a day trip from either local Haven park. Expect tractor parades, sheep shearing, artisan stalls and plenty to nibble as you wander.

Frome Agricultural & Cheese Show

Where: West Woodlands Showground, Frome, BA11 5ES

Nearest park: Burnham-on-Sea (34 miles, 1 hour 10-minute drive)

Cheese lovers, this one’s yours. Alongside traditional showground thrills like stunt displays, dog shows and equestrian events, this long-running day out hosts the prestigious Global Cheese Awards, plus heaps of tastings and demos. It’s the perfect family-friendly day out with kids’ activities and a bustling food hall full of tasty bites to tuck into.

Wells Food Festival 

When: 11 October 2026 

Where: Market Place, Wells, BA5 2RB

Nearest park: Burnham-on-Sea (18 miles, 45-minute drive)

England’s smallest city throws a huge party for local produce, with stalls crammed full of West Country cheeses, charcuterie and chutneys, street-food vans around the Market Place, chef demos, and sweet treats for miles. Come early to park easily, then amble between the cathedral green and the medieval gateways with something tasty in hand. It’s a lovely, low-key finale to the season before cosy nights back at base.

Let2offset - make no site fee payments until 2032

Let2offset is a contractual lettings product that offers eligible owners a guaranteed letting income at a preferential rate (calculated each year) in exchange for a stipulated number of letting breaks. It also allows eligible owners to pay their site fees and receive their letting income in 12 equal monthly instalments; the monthly site fee amount charged by Haven will be after deduction of the letting income.

‘Make no site fee payments until 2032 when using Let2offset’ is available at 33 Haven parks excluding Burnham, Cardigan View, Far Grange, Garreg Wen, Lydstep Beach, Riviere Sands and Seaview. The letting income received will vary by make, model and location. The monthly site fee payment does not include running costs e.g. utilities, rates & insurance.

Move your caravan to Haven for free - full terms and conditions

This offer is available for holiday home owners not located at a Haven park and that want to relocate their holiday home from their current holiday park a Haven holiday park, subject to pitch availability and the satisfactory completion of our standard onboarding checks. It cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer, discount or promotion, apart from the free 2026 site fee promotion if applicable to the Haven park. Haven reserves the right to withdraw this offer at any time without notice.

In order to be eligible to participate in the offer, your holiday home must be situated within a 50-mile radius of the Haven park that you wish to relocate to. The holiday home must be no more than 15 years old from the date of manufacture and if it has been purchased under a finance agreement, the holiday homeowner must provide confirmation from their lender that the holiday home can be moved to the Haven park.

Haven will transport your holiday home from the entrance of its current holiday park location to the required Haven park and will reimburse your transportation costs up-to a maximum value of £750; any excess must be paid by the holiday homeowner.
