Minehead, in Somerset, is an idyllic coastal town in South West England, on the edge of Exmoor National Park. Most travellers know this town is famous for the stunning views of its beaches and the soaring cliffs that tower over them. With miles of gorgeous coast and many things to do and see, Minehead will keep visitors busy for days on end.

Minehead is the ideal town to visit on a stay with us on a memory-making break at Doniford Bay Holiday Park. Below, we've outlined the best attractions in Minehead, so you can decide what you want to do during your stay here in Somerset!

1. Minehead Beach

1. Minehead Beach

No visit to any coastal town is complete without checking out the local beach. Minehead beach is a mile-long stretch of sand and pebbles with picnic benches and barbecues. The water is shallow for some distance from the shoreline, which makes it popular with families.

It's also one of the prettiest beaches in Minehead. The sandy beach is flanked by a pedestrian promenade along with shady trees and rock pools to explore at low tide. The sea views are stunning from any point along its length, and it's a great place for a picnic or family day out. One of the biggest draws is that it's free, so you can spend your hard-earned cash on ice creams from the seaside restaurants instead!

2. Blenheim Gardens

If you're exploring Minehead, you should definitely visit Blenheim Gardens. It's one of the top attractions in the town, and it's easy to reach from most of the hotels. Apart from having acres of landscaped gardens with trees that were planted over 200 years ago, they also have a bowling green and croquet lawns.

The visitor centre has exhibitions on gardening and outdoor living as well as an audio-visual presentation on the history of the house. They also offer guided tours around the house which include being shown inside, where there are original pieces of furniture, paintings by Van Dyck and other important works by members of Europe's leading families who lived here for generations.

3. The Golden Retriever Experience

3. The Golden Retriever Experience

Are you a dog lover? The Golden Retriever Experience is an interactive attraction where your family can meet (and cuddle!) a pack of Golden Retrievers. You can take part in an agility course with the dogs or even learn how to do some tricks yourself.

It's great fun and interaction for the dogs, and the kids will love it.
