Local ingredients are combined into mouth-watering combinations including pork belly with miniature black puddings, mash and Vimto(!) red cabbage puree, and of course the local catch served with chunky chips.

The Ginger Pig has frequent tapas nights which are a massive draw, the calamari in particular receiving major thumbs ups from regulars. They don’t neglect desserts either, with delicious and beautifully presented confections garnished with spun sugar and a highly recommended crème brulee.

Regulars rave about the seafood including the mussels, and the hake served with a chorizo cream. There are vegetarian and vegan options too, with the halloumi fries scoring highly. Popular with families and groups, Scotty’s is a bit of a party venue, and a great place for a cocktail or two as well as an evening meal.

3. Meze Mazi

For those who aren’t into fish, there’s souvlaki, slow-cooked beef and lamb, and sikotakia (chicken liver marinated in milk, fried with spring onions and oregano).

All the classic Napoli-style pizzas are available and there are unique varieties including caprine with goat’s cheese and caramelised onions and the meat-heavy Michelangelo (beef, chicken, ham and spicy ‘nduja sausage).
