Top 5 things to do near Cala Gran and on park
Cala Gran Holiday Park near Blackpool, Lancashire, is a “small park with a big heart”, say General Manager Jayne Mushet and Head of Experience Mark Evans. With its family-friendly facilities, and proximity to several seaside towns, we asked Jayne and Mark for their top recommendations of things to do here.
1. Visit Blackpool
There is so much to do in Blackpool! Blackpool Pleasure Beach amusement park is definitely a family favourite, and there’s something for everyone - families, a group of thrill-seekers or even couples - there are so many fantastic rides and attractions.
While you’re on the promenade you can also take a tram to one of the many other attractions like the famous Blackpool Tower, the SeaLife centre, RNLI visitor centre, one of the three piers, or if you fancy a splash you can visit the Sandcastle Waterpark.
There's also Blackpool Zoo, which has over 100 animals and even a soft play area, the Play Barn. And usually in September the illuminations start and the lights are amazing. Absolutely great. We have a travel discount guests can use on trams and coaches around Blackpool too.
2. Explore Lytham St Annes and Fleetwood
The park is a little out of Blackpool in Fleetwood. And Fleetwood itself is great if you’re looking for a traditional seafront with nice cafes, a beautiful dog-friendly beach and a traditional market. We’ve also got Affinity, the discount shopping centre about a mile-and-a-half away which is great for shopping of course.
Or about half-an-hour's drive away is Lytham St Annes, which has a sandy beach, a Victorian pier with amusements, ice cream and fish and chips, a historic windmill and lots of independent shops.
3. Get involved in the activities
We have a great climbing wall, archery, crazy golf, Make a Bear – all of our activities are really really popular and the climbing wall in particular is really well-liked.
4. Try out the arcade
We recently updated the arcade and we're pleased with how great that’s been. It's really cool. The walk-through prize shop is a complete success - there’s always people in there! Our ticket machines are just constantly going, it’s great. We’ve updated our soft play area as well and that goes down a treat.
5. Pop over to Farmer Parrs
Farmer Parrs Animal World is a little farm literally the other side of the road to us. They’ve had a new café and bistro built which is a lovely place to go. There’s a small motor museum in there, and then of course you’ve got all the farm animals, you can ride the ponies, feed the sheep, see the llamas, and it’s right next door. So there is plenty to do come rain or shine.
Why do you love Cala Gran?
It’s a little park but we love it – there's a community feel here, and we talk to everyone!
