Dog-friendly restaurants in Edinburgh

Edinburgh’s a contrasting mix of historical architecture and vibrant modern living. If you’re staying at our Seton Sands Holiday Park, it’s a must-visit, only 30 miles away by car!

While you’re visiting with your furry friend in tow, you must pop into one of our favourite dog-friendly restaurants in Edinburgh. Let’s find you a table, shall we?

Scran & Scallie

Scran & Scallie

In Stockbridge, the part of Edinburgh with a village vibe, you’ll find the Scran & Scallie. It’s got a rustic, yet sophisticated feel to it—think Scandi meets Scottish charm. Of course, it welcomes dogs with open arms, ready to provide fusses and snacks in the restaurant area.

While you wait for your choice of classic pub grub, choose from a selection of artisanal drinks and locally brewed ales. It’s the kind of restaurant you can feel at home in, alongside your pooch. There are plenty of options for smaller palates too, with a menu made just for ‘little scallies’.

When you’re up to continuing your ramble around Edinburgh, the Scran & Scallie is within walking distance of parks, gardens, and other attractions in the city.

The Roseleaf

This charming bar and cafe sits on the corner of Quayside Street in Leith, serving up a cosy atmosphere and delicious Scottish classics like Cullen Skink and Sea Trout. The menu is entirely made of local produce, with dishes changing seasonally. Little ones have their own menu too. Treat yourself to a scrummy dessert like banoffee blondies or ice cream—and wash it all down with a drink from their wide selection.

If you’re coming with your pooch in tow, let the staff know, as they’ll save you a spot at the front of the restaurant.

The King's Wark

The King's Wark

This traditional Scottish restaurant is based in a building that dates all the way back to 1434! It’s the perfect spot for a cosy and relaxing meal. They’ve got cask ales, cocktails, wines, and spirits - or a coffee, if you fancy. The menu has a fairly upmarket choice of seasonal dishes, seafood, and a cheeseboard, but the vibe is completely unpretentious.

We wouldn’t be including the King’s Wark in our list of dog-friendly restaurants in Edinburgh if the staff didn’t go crazy for four-legged friends, so you're in luck! Dogs are encouraged in and offered plenty of water to drink.

The restaurant’s in an ideal spot for a post-meal stroll, as it’s right on the waterfront in trendy Leith.

The Espy

If all you want to do is come somewhere fuss-free that’s right near the beach, The Espy’s got you covered. It’s a proper chilled out eatery for the whole family, including your dog, with water and snacks available. They serve up American-inspired cuisine with dishes like loaded fries, tacos, and juicy burgers.

We know how fussy kids can be—so the hilarious kids' menu is definitely worth a look. Meals like ‘I Don’t Know’ and ‘I Don’t Care’ make choosing something to eat a lot easier! From the outdoor eating area, you get a gorgeous view of the beach. Why not stroll along the prom afterwards?

The Ox

The owners of The Ox pride themselves on creating a cosy, homely atmosphere to make the most of the local community here on Broughton Street. Their focus is on delicious, locally-sourced food that’s a mix of classics like vegetable soup and haggis balls, to more creative dishes like plant burgers and BBQ ox cheek.

The Fountain

The Fountain call themselves ‘a real pub with a modern twist’. It feels cosy and welcoming like a traditional pub, with their own selection of craft beers and unique takes on traditional pub grub.

It’s a kid- and dog-friendly restaurant in Edinburgh with lots of choice when it comes to food. Choose classics like soup of the day and beef pie, to haggis pakoras with Irn-Bru hot sauce. Kids under 10 have their own menu if they don’t fancy the main offerings. If you’re in the mood for a lighter bite, opt for bar snacks instead.

Don’t worry, dogs aren’t left out! The staff are more than happy to shower them with treats on your visit to keep tails wagging.
