We are just coming to the end of our stay at Haggerston Castle and would recommend to book accommodation privately and not through Haven. The lodge we stayed in was impressive looking until you got closer. The decking was covered in bird poo and cobwebs had to be cleared so we could even get in and out the doors. It didn’t look like a cleaner had been near the place. The carpet bar that separated the entrance mat and carpet was loose and sticking up and would of cut one of the kids feet but we had brought our tool kit as we had it for the car roof bars so sorted it straight away. I had to go round the full van and wipe everything down as there was food smeared in to near enough every door and round the kitchen. We had to clean hundreds of cobwebs in the ensuit and repair the shower door that a screw had came off and was left lying in the shower. Some of the bedding had marks over them as well. We did scrub down the decking so the kids could actually play out on it. We did ask at reception if they could come round and hoover the full lodge and reception was very helpful and the cleaner did turn up with 15mins but they hoovered one room and left the van smelling of wet dog due to the hoover which caused more an issue as we had a family member with us that is allergic to dogs so that set them off. Positive is that it is a very good site and plenty for the kids to do and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The cleanliness lets the experience down especially when paying a lot of money to stay in the diamond lodges. We probably would return but won’t be booking through Haven.

This holiday park exceeded all of our expectations. We used a privately rented caravan as a base for visiting the area. We were impressed by security and the overall maintenance of the site. Much quieter and more scenic than we had expected. Lots of geese, swans, ducks, etc. Beautiful lake, plenty of facilities for those who want them, but these do not cause noise or nuisance for those who want a peaceful holiday. 10 mph speed limit on site but I would advise driving more slowly (geese, pedestrians etc). All in all, a safe haven with myriad opportunities for all to choose from.

We would not return to this site or recommend it; however, it did not spoil our break. Upon arrival, we found that the windows and patio area were heavily covered in bird droppings, indicating that they had not been cleaned prior to our stay. The condition was such that my husband felt it necessary to clean both the patio and windows himself using a mop and bucket so that our family could make use of the outdoor space. Aside from this issue, the caravan itself was pleasant, comfortable, and situated in a peaceful area of the park. Due to the location, we chose to drive to the main complex in the evenings, as it was approximately a 20-minute walk. There was a que to get into the entertainment in the evenings (never had to que at other sites) but the kids disco/ tiger club is always a hit for our child. If your ordering from the app dont bother much quicker to go to the bar if your able. More generally, the site appears poorly maintained in areas and somewhat run down in requiring attention and refurbishment. We observed broken equipment in multiple park areas that was out of use. In addition, the outdoor seating area of the Wetherspoons was notably unclean and did not appear to be regularly maintained. As a result, we would not have chosen to dine outside, although the interior was clean and the staff were polite. The Haven staff we encountered elsewhere on site were also friendly. We had pre-booked a swimming session; however, upon arrival, the pool was closed. Having already noted concerns regarding cleanliness, we chose not to book any further I do not usually leave reviews, but I felt it was important to share our experience of Haggerston castle.

Just back from a week away, the staff were all lovely and the caravan was mostly clean with a few things left from previous tennant like sweet wrappers and a toy. Only thing that was frustrating was the lack of everything in the shop, it was like they haven't had a delivery in a month with full shelves being empty so wasnt able to purchase any souvenirs or gifts (other than seaside squad merch). Also a lot of the places aren't open during the week/have reduced hours so kinda annoying. Went to the pottery and the ladies were so nice in there. The guy hosting the bingo on Thursday was hilarious, my mum and I were literally laughing out loud, so I would defo recommend to go along to the linked bingo when you visit. Will definitely be back just will book a weekend next time rather than mon-fri 🤣

The Caravan is lovely. Close to main facilities, quiet area , inside has everything we need as a family of 7. The park looks lovely and most parts are great. The soft play was closed for "maintenance" although been told it's been like that for months. It also looks dirty and gross. The nisa shop is handy, the take outs are not good food, expensive, small and taste awful. Wetherspoons was ok, quick service, normal spoons food nothing to write home about but better than the other food. Lots of lovely places to explore nearby.
