Somerset Holidays & Campsites in Somerset

Keep heading south-west until the sea turns turquoise and the sands get whiter, and you’ll reach the beautiful county of Somerset

You could be forgiven for wanting to visit simply for the cider and cheddar cheese, the produce that the county is most famous for, but this is only a taste of what Somerset is all about; there’s so much more to do here, so it should come as little wonder that the county has long been a popular destination for family holidays.

Somerset is packed full of wonderful locations and places for you to visit, including an incredible 72 nature reserves. Two of the largest areas of natural beauty – the Mendips and the Quantocks – are right beside our holiday parks in Somerset and both feature numerous nature reserves and areas of stunning countryside just waiting to be explored.

The county is also home to the Cheddar Gorge, which features dramatic cliffs rising 450ft to the stunning stalactite caverns, a world-famous attraction which reveals fascinating stories of our prehistoric ancestors. The thrill-seekers in your family will also love visiting Cheddar Gorge as it’s a renowned international centre for caving and rock climbing!

There’s more to Somerset than just beautiful countryside, though. The county has a striking coastline and the seaside towns of Brean and Minehead are great places for you to enjoy a day out. The sandy beaches and crashing waves at Burnham-on-Sea and Brean make them the perfect destination for surfers, while Kilve Beach has plenty of rock pools for inquisitive kids to explore at low tide.

If you have an interest in the past you must make a trip to Bath to explore its museums and historic sites and find out about its Roman history and links with the author Jane Austen, while the towns of Wells and Glastonbury both offer cathedrals, abbeys and stunning architecture to marvel at.
