The Lincolnshire coastline is home not only to striking countryside but also some of the UK’s best loved seaside resorts

Lincolnshire is a county steeped in history, from the Roman arches in the city of Lincoln which date back to the 3rd century BC, to Lincoln Castle, home to one of the four surviving copies of the Magna Carta. Boston, Lincolnshire was where some of the earliest settlers who later made their home in Boston, Massachusetts in the 17th century originated from, while in the Second World War the region was given the nickname Bomber County as a result of all the Allied airfields that were built on its flat land.

With so much to discover and learn about this remarkable part of the UK, remember there’s still plenty of fun things to do to keep even the most energetic kids entertained!

Lincolnshire has over 50 miles of coastline, and is home to Skegness, undoubtedly one of the UK’s most famous seaside destinations. The whole coastline is dominated by miles of unspoilt sandy beaches, three of which – Sutton on Sea, Mablethorpe and Skegness – have been awarded Blue Flags.

If you’re a fan of wildlife you’ll be spoilt for choice with a number of wildlife and animal parks in the area – the seal sanctuaries in Mablethorpe and Skegness being particular favourites worth checking out.

If you prefer to discover wildlife in a more natural environment, head to Cleethorpes; North East Lincolnshire is affectionately known as Bird Airport for the sheer number of birds it attracts each year.
