Haven’s environmental consultant Daniel Coward said: "Youngsters have been discovering just how much there is to explore in our wonderful countryside and on the coast. Many have been amazed by the amount of wildlife literally on the doorstep of their holiday home."
Haven is Britain’s leading family holiday company providing quality holidays at great value to more than 2. 5 million people every year.
A major landowner with many of the parks on or near Sites of Special Scientific Interest, Haven prides itself on its green credentials and a number of holiday parks have been at the forefront of major environmental initiatives.
As a sign of the company’s commitment to the environment, Haven is for the first time funding two full-time rangers at its two holiday parks in Tenby, South Wales, in partnership with the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority. Dai Draycott and Caz Smith, based at Lydstep Beach and Kiln Park Holiday Parks, regularly take groups of children on nature walks to explore the local flora and fauna.
Perran Sands in Cornwall, where full-time ranger Sarah Taylor is jointly funded by the park and the local council, has just been awarded a Gold Green Tourism for Business award for the second year running, being much praised by the assessor for their all-embracing approach to eco-tourism.
