Camping and caravaning as cool as ever

Record numbers of campers are booking breaks to make the most of the long, hot summer.

One of the factors is the rise in popularity of festivals, giving people the bug for the great outdoors.

Leading holiday company Haven says it has seen its biggest ever rise in the number of hits to its touring website www.caravancamping.co.uk.

This year Haven expanded its touring facilities opening a new site for touring caravans and motorhomes at Caister Holiday Park near Great Yarmouth.

With 23 Holiday Parks all in stunning seaside or countryside locations, Haven is offering pitches for seven nights during the school summer holidays from £26 per family, per night.

A Haven spokesperson said: “The weather has made a big difference. It’s all further proof if anyone needed it that camping and caravaning are as cool as ever!”

Included in the holidays are passes to all the entertainment and many superb sports and leisure facilities on the Holiday Parks – which have seen £40 million in investment in the past year.

Haven has also seen a big rise in weekend bookings for luxury, static holiday homes now the World Cup is over – showing once again that British seaside holidays are as popular as ever.

The spokesperson said: “Our bookings for weekend breaks in the peak summer season are up almost 30% compared with the same time last year, which itself was a record year. Seaside bucket and spade holidays have never been so popular as far as we’re concerned.”
