Haven bookings surge after BA strike

The damage caused by BA's threatened strike was revealed yesterday as Britain's leading family holiday company Haven Holidays reported a surge in bookings over Easter for UK breaks.

Haven said its bookings had risen by 42% for Easter during the past week, compared with the same week in 2009.

A Haven spokesperson said: "Our hotlines have been jammed with callers and many customers have said they were thinking of going abroad but had now decided to go for somewhere more convenient where they were less likely to experience delays."

"In general Easter breaks are becoming more popular and in the past five years we have seen a 51% increase in Easter holidays. They are definitely catching up with the summer as the most popular time to get away for families."

Haven has 35 award-winning holiday Parks in the UK providing breaks for 2.5 million people every year.

It is Britain's leading family holiday company and was named UK operator of the year in the 2009 British Travel Awards.
